Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse position in an acute care facility located in the emergency department. The role involves providing high-acuity care in a fast-paced environment with a variety of trauma and medical patients, including trauma cases, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes. The position requires adherence to strict policies, including recent certifications and compliance with facility-specific protocols.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts starting at 3:00 PM and ending at 3:00 AM. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neurological Institute Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), with at least 2 years of recent experience in an emergency department. Valid driver's license required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is preferred.
- Additional Information:
- Candidates must have recent experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center.
- Must have a valid driver's license, as it will be used to verify radius restrictions.
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas.
- RNs are required to pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%.
- The ER is staffed with both physicians and mid-level providers, and maintains a 1:4 nurse-to-patient zone ratio, with designated ratios for Fast Track, Observation, and ICU/Trauma areas.
- Must work during department-specific holidays and weekends as needed.
- Will float to Observation unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week.
- Orientation includes 1 week of onboarding plus shifts at designated facilities.
- The role involves a fast-paced environment with high-acuity patient care, adherence to hospital policies, and the ability to read and interpret strips independently.
- Shifts are scheduled in advance, with leadership making schedules.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted in advance and is limited to 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract.
- The assignment begins on 09/14/2026 and ends on 01/18/2027.
