Description

Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in an acute care setting. The role involves discharging and educating patients, managing post-operative care, and assisting with pre-operative tasks. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient safety and quality care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 10-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 09/28/2026 and ending on 12/28/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensing to submit, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications. Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU, preferably in a similar setting. Experience with pediatric patients and proficiency with IV starts for pre-op and post-op tasks.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Peds, proficiency with IV starts, ability to hit the ground running with minimal orientation.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: Managing PACU patient discharges, patient education, stocking, room cleaning, crash cart checks, and supporting department duties throughout the shift. Handling common cases such as ortho, ENT, spinal surgeries, and pediatric care. Assisting with pre-operative patient intake, VS, IV starts, and post-operative calls.
  • Additional Information: The unit comprises 12 beds across PACU phases 1 and 2, staffed by 9-10 RNs during open hours. The department handles both adult and pediatric cases with patient ratios of 1:2 in Phase 1 and 1:3 in Phase 2. The shift may be scheduled as 4x10 or 3x12, depending on department needs. No weekend, call, or holiday shifts are required. Orientation includes 3 shifts in the department, and scrubs are provided.
