Description
Job Summary:
The post partum floor registered nurse position is located in an inpatient obstetric setting. This role involves providing care to women during the postpartum period, supporting maternal and newborn teaching, and managing high-risk medications and neonatal monitoring. The position requires clinical expertise in labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care, with a focus on patient education and support.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per day, minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications:
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided)
- Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
- Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring
- Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws
- Demonstrated knowledge of high risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin)
- Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of IStat devices
- Demonstrated ability to perform adult cardiac monitoring
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to perform heel sticks and venipuncture on newborns
- Demonstrated knowledge of neonatal medication administration and maintenance, including IVs
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bili-blankets and lights
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiant warmers
- Demonstrated ability to support gynecological teaching and post-operative bladder training
- Demonstrated ability to support maternal-newborn teaching
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
- Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience
- Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience
- Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience
