Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Position in an acute care facility. This role involves providing general medical-surgical nursing care across multiple units within a large hospital setting. The position requires flexibility to float between departments as needed, supporting patient care across a diverse population with varying diagnoses and treatment needs.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Start Date: 09/07/2026
• End Date: 02/08/2027
• Required Qualifications:
  • At least 1.5 years of experience in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care environments
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds
  • IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20) required
  • BLS certification through AHA required
  • Candidate must have at least 0 years of experience (additional experience preferred but not mandatory)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in multiple medical-surgical units
  • Skills in assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHR), IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, and IV therapy management
  • Familiarity with Epic electronic record system, Pyxis medication machines, Accucheck blood glucose monitoring, Hospira IV pumps, SCDs for VTE prevention, telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to float to other medical units
• Additional Information:
  • Must be willing to go through supplemental Jump Start orientation, including 1 day of general hospital orientation and approximately 5 days of nursing orientation plus Epic classes
  • May be called off up to 24 hours per 13-week assignment as per policy
  • Will require staff to support the unit during weekends; scheduled as 3 weekends in 4 weeks
  • Dress code: Caribbean Blue scrubs
  • Charting system: EPIC
