Description

Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse position in a Level II Special Care nursery. This role involves caring for neonates 32 weeks gestational age and above, including babies on CPAP, High Flow, Feeder-Grower, R/S Sepsis, and Hyperbilirubinemia. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of NICU experience, with a preference for Level 3 NICU experience, and is scheduled for night shifts.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), STABLE; 2 years of NICU experience (preferably Level 3).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high acuity neonatal patients, including use of CPAP and High Flow ventilation.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, including to a sister facility.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit has 12 licensed neonatal beds, with an average census of 10.
    • Care team includes a charge nurse who manages high-risk deliveries but usually does not have an assignment.
    • Support staff includes a PCT/HUC who can assist with neonatal patient care.
    • In-house 24/7 NNPs (Neonatal Nurse Practitioners) and Pediatricians on call.
    • Neonates on CPAP and High flow are cared for; nurses do not titrate drips.
    • No monitor techs; RNs evaluate strips with referals as needed.
    • Self-scheduling is allowed; three weekend shifts per month and holiday coverage are required.
    • Must start all IVs independently; dedicated neonatal PICC team available.
    • Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts cancellation per 13-week assignment.
    • Certification licenses must be submitted; willing to wait for license processing.
