Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nursing in a Level II trauma center located in the Emergency Department. This position involves providing critical patient care across a diverse patient population, including pediatrics to geriatrics, with a focus on trauma, stroke, STEMI, and other emergency conditions. The role requires adaptability to varying acuity levels and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts with varied start times; shifts include 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 11a-11p, 2p-2a, and 7p-7a. Staff scheduling is managed by the department manager, accommodating block scheduling needs.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in Emergency Room settings.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel nursing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Additional Information:
    • ER features include 21 beds including fast track, a separate triage area, and psych/seclusion rooms.
    • Security personnel are in-house 24/7 with security office located within the ER.
    • Patient volume averages 50-60 patients daily, primarily Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Level 3 and 4.
    • The nursing team operates with a ratio of approximately 1:3-4, depending on patient acuity.
    • Responsibilities include assisting with patient assessments, treatments, education, and documentation, alongside collaboration with physicians and support staff.
    • Telemetry monitors are available, and RNs may interpret strips; respiratory therapy services are accessible as needed.
    • Travel allows for float experience; stable patients are transported to imaging or transferred as appropriate.
