Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in Puyallup, Washington. This position involves providing high-quality emergency care in a Level III trauma center with a 375-bed capacity. The role requires managing a diverse patient population, including trauma, sepsis, COVID-19, STEMI, stroke, and mental health cases, with an emphasis on high acuity medical and geriatric patients. The ER nurse will be integral to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that supports safety and patient-centered care.

Job Details:

  • Location: Puyallup, Washington
  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, week-long schedules with potential variability; weekends will vary depending on unit needs.
  • Required Qualifications: VA (Veterans Affairs) certification, BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing); Washington state nursing license; 0 years of experience required accordingly; current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), CPI/MOAB certifications; recent EPIC (Electronic Patient Information Charting) experience.
  • Skills Required: Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, basic ED medications, procedural sedation, blood administration, and TNK administration (preferred).
  • Support on the Unit: ER technicians for glucose checks and iStat, assistance with splinting; charge nurses may occasionally take assignments; resource/float nurses available; RT (Respiratory Therapist) available 24/7; ED educators, security, social work services, and pharmacy support are on-site 24/7.
  • Charting System/Equipment: Recent EPIC experience required; Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication systems, bedside telemetry monitoring.
  • Orientation: First day includes badge pickup, EPIC training, and mental health area orientation; following day involves a 12-hour shift with a preceptor.
  • Telemetry Competency: Must be completed and passed prior to start; SimpliFi Compliance provides grading.
  • Additional Information: The environment is traveler-friendly and fast-paced, with a focus on teamwork and safety, supporting various clinical responsibilities throughout the shift.
