Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in a Level I trauma center located in an acute care hospital. This role involves providing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients within a busy medical-surgical unit. The position requires the ability to manage complex patient needs and demonstrate competency in various clinical procedures.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 09/14/2026 and ending 12/14/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, current Illinois license, BLS certification, PICC line management, and experience with starting IVs.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Cerner electronic charting system experience, wound care skills, and experience managing tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients.
  • Additional Information: Will float within scope to meet facility needs. Candidates must be willing to take up to a 1:7 patient ratio if required. Responsible for dressing changes, drain removals, sutures and staple removal, nasogastric tube insertion, central line dressing, and other specialized procedures. Required to work every other weekend and one major holiday.
  • Certifications: BLS certified; AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted.
  • RTO Restrictions: Manager will review and decide on requests for time off, limited to one winter holiday off.
  • Special Requirements: Experience with PICC line management, starting IVs, and willingness to learn care for trach and laryngectomy patients.
  • Travel Compliance: Candidates must be pre-closed at the time of submission, review and confirm understanding of assignment requirements, housing, and compliance procedures.
  • Orientation: First day is virtual and at-home, with modules to be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1.
