Job Summary:
Operating Room (First Assistant) in the surgical specialty located in the designated area. This position involves providing advanced support during surgical procedures, including robotic and open cases, with a focus on general surgery cases such as colon, hernias, gastric sleeves, and bypasses. The role requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-volume surgical environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 10-hour evening shifts from 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026 and ending on 11/30/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; first assistant certification (CRNFA); BLS certification; at least 2 years of surgical experience, including robotic and open procedures; experience with firing staplers; scrubbing experience assisting surgeons; willing to wait for license submission.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with robotic surgery and open procedures, specifically in general surgery cases involving colon, hernias, gastric sleeves, and bypasses.
• Additional Information:
  • Local rates apply to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles.
  • OSF call-off policy mandates staffing of 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty or need to pay for the shift.
  • Orientation includes 12 hours of non-billable training; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
  • The department uses Epic electronic medical records (EMR) and requires scrubs provided by the unit.
  • Call or standby may be required depending on physician needs, with a 30-minute response time.
  • No float rotation is explicitly required; no holiday or weekend call required.
  • The unit may require specific dress code and orientation prior to start.
