Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) in an acute care setting is seeking experienced registered nurses to provide specialized care for post open heart surgical patients. The role involves managing the care of ventilated patients with complex cardiovascular conditions, utilizing advanced intervention equipment, and performing critical assessments in a fast-paced environment. The position offers an opportunity to work with a highly skilled team involved in innovative cardiothoracic care.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, a minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) experience with continuous ICU assignments, ability to interpret electrocardiogram strips, strong assessment skills, critical thinking, excellent communication and organizational abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in high-stress environments. Experience with titrating multiple drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification, CCRN certification is a plus.
• Certifications: BLS (AHA) required.
• Experience: At least 2 years of recent CVICU experience preferred, with proficiency in managing complex cardiovascular interventions, ventilated patients, and advanced monitoring equipment.
• Additional Information: This unit requires staff capable of managing multiple advanced cardiovascular devices including Swan-Ganz catheters, IABPs, Impellas, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT lines. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting Philips monitors and electrocardiogram strips, and should be comfortable with a multi-patient assignment spanning 1:12 to 1:15 nurse-patient ratios, depending on staffing. The role involves working with a team of hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and advanced practice providers, and requires flexibility in floating across different levels of care when necessary.
