Job Summary:
The ORT (Operating Room Technician) is an entry-level surgical technologist position located in a healthcare facility setting. This role involves supporting the surgical team through preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties. The position focuses on ensuring sterile techniques are maintained, assisting with patient preparation, and supporting surgical procedures to promote patient safety and efficient workflow.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; graduation from an accredited surgical technology training program; possession of and ongoing maintenance of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card. Appointees without a current BLS card must complete training and qualify within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Strong working knowledge of aseptic technique; ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure; high level of surgical conscience in behavioral practices; understanding and application of principles of surgical technology and legal, ethical, and moral responsibilities.
• Additional Information: The Surgical Technologist I assists during various phases of surgical procedures including preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and post-procedure duties. Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, assisting with patient positioning and prep, instrument handling, and specimen processing. The role requires active participation in the Time-Out Universal Protocol and adherence to safety procedures.
