Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in a teaching hospital situated in an urban area. The role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a Level III Trauma Center, handling a diverse patient population with various urgent and critical medical conditions. The position requires working night shifts with a focus on trauma and stroke management, ensuring patient safety and efficient care delivery.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Must have at least 2 years of emergency department experience, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification; RN license in appropriate state and ability to work in a trauma level III emergency environment
- Preferred Qualifications: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Support within the Department: CNA ratios vary, with support from receptionists/huc, charge nurses available 24/7, and interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists, emergency physicians, RT (Respiratory Therapist), and trauma teams
- Technology/Equipment: EMR system: EPIC, IV pumps with alarms, Omnicell medication dispensing units, Phillips monitors
- Floating: Floating to various facilities within the region as needed, including different ERs and division sites; travel between facilities during mid-shift will be compensated and remains within scope of practice
- Orientation: Two days of departmental orientation and facility-specific onboarding
- Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation; no call required; works 75% of holidays; up to 6 days RTO (Request for Time Off) permitted excluding holidays; additional time may be added at the end of the contract if needed
- Other Notes: Scrub color is Navy; free parking available
