Description
Job Summary:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care in a hospital setting. This assignment involves providing advanced patient care to critically ill patients with a focus on managing complex medical conditions and utilizing specialized equipment. The role requires flexibility and adherence to hospital protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Location: Grafton, Wisconsin
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 09/21/2026
- End Date: 12/19/2026
- Required Qualifications: BLS, ACLS; 3 years ICU experience, valid ICU license or equivalent, and current certification(s) as specified.
- Preferred Qualifications: NIHSS certification is preferred.
- Patient Population & Common Diagnoses: Patients with sepsis, alcohol and IV drug abuse, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, gastrointestinal bleeds, strokes (with TPA), acute respiratory failure, COVID-19, diabetic ketoacidosis. Surgical patients include general, open abdominal, orthopedic (total joints), ENT, obstetrics and gynecology.
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, based on acuity.
- Responsibilities: Managing ventilators and tracheostomies, invasive lines (art lines, CVP, Swanz-Ganz), drains, chest tubes, Foley catheter management, post-surgical and post-cardiac catheter recovery, CVVH, and CVRT.
- Support Staff & Department Support: CNA and RT support during shifts, availability of hospitalists, intensivists, ICU-specific pharmacist around the clock, and educator support.
- Technology & Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record system, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, NxStage Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and unit-specific monitors.
- Float Requirements: Float within the scope of practice including intermediate units, MSU, Emergency Department Boarding, and Observation units. Travelers are expected to float if needed.
- Orientation: One day of orientation including badge access, clinical batch logs, login setup, and meet and greet with nurse manager, followed by shift with a preceptor.
- Additional Notes: Scrub color is flexible, with no logos, graphics, or camouflage. Parking is free. More than two sick calls will prompt review and possible contract termination.
