Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nursing Specialist position available in a healthcare facility within the Department of Labor and Delivery. This role requires providing specialized care in obstetric settings, managing high-risk pregnancies, assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and supporting postpartum patients. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse patient population.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: California Registered Nurse (RN) license, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), at least 3 years of Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience including a minimum of 1 recent year, and ability to float to other UCSF facilities.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with high acuity obstetric patients, ability to circulate for cesarean sections, and prior travel assignment experience.
  • Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
  • Skills: Administration of blood and blood products, assist with high-risk deliveries, support postpartum care, perform fetal monitoring using external and internal devices, and manage postpartum hemorrhage.
  • Additional Information: Must submit all references at the time of offer. RTO (Reasonable Time Off) requests must be disclosed at the time of submittal and approved by the manager at the time of offer. Travel pairs are permitted but generally not on the same unit; married couples are usually assigned to different units. The ability to float across departments within a 75+ mile radius may be required. Orientation registration occurs at 4:00 pm PST on the Monday prior to the scheduled start date.
