Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Puyallup, WA This position involves providing comprehensive care to women during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period in a Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate patient care throughout various stages of childbirth and postpartum recovery.

Job Details

Position: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Puyallup, WA
Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, fetal monitoring skills (AWHONN or Relias module), and licensure to practice as a registered nurse. Experience: 1 year in Labor and Delivery preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience performing cervical exams, antepartum and labor procedures, amnio infusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, IV insertions, Pitocin administration; postpartum experience including couplet care; familiarity with HUGS security system and Pyxis medication dispensing system.
Additional Information: No Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) on unit; Surgery Technicians available Monday through Friday mornings; Phlebotomy services available; NICU attendance as needed for births before 34 weeks or higher-risk cases. The role involves floating only to areas where competency is confirmed, with no floating to the START unit. Orientation includes facility and unit-specific training, annual core competencies, and medication exams. Shift coverage includes weekend rotations every other week and one major and one minor holiday per schedule cycle.
