Description
Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RN Location: San Francisco, CA. This position involves providing specialized, evidence-based patient care within the ICU setting. The registered nurse (RN) will assess, interpret, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, collaborating closely with the healthcare team and the patient's family to ensure optimal outcomes and family-centered care in accordance with regulatory standards.
Job Details
- Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: CA-RN (Registered Nurse) license, current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred, 1 year of ICU experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working specifically in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, additional certifications or specialized training in critical care nursing
- Responsibilities:
- Creates and maintains a climate conducive to healing through being present to the patient and family, identifying and managing discomforts, providing emotional support and information, guiding the patient and family through illness and recovery or passage to death, in accordance with patients goals and culture
- Mobilizes the patients strengths and abilities towards participation in recovery and control over the plan of care
- Obtains accurate and relevant assessment data, interprets data as normal or abnormal, and determines nursing diagnoses
- Collaborates with patient, family, and healthcare team to develop an individualized plan of care
- Implements nursing and medical interventions safely; evaluates their effectiveness and monitors for adverse responses
- Teaches patients and families necessary self-care and illness prevention information, adjusting based on individual responses, developmental levels, and cultural differences
- Contributes to team building and continuous improvement through participation in unit programs and professional development activities
- Demonstrates effective communication and leadership within the professional practice setting
