Job Summary
The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse with specialization in Neurocritical Care to join their team. This role involves providing advanced patient care for neurological and medical intensive care patients in a Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The position offers the opportunity to work in a prominent facility dedicated to evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Job Details

• Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
• Unit Information: Beds: 27; Census: 25 patients/day; Level III Trauma Center; Magnet Designated; Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Neurological conditions including ischemic strokes (post TNK, thrombectomies), hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, IPH, IVH, SDH), seizures, spinal surgeries, brain mass resections/biopsies. Non-neuro ICU includes medical respiratory overflow and general medical ICU patients.
• Patient Ratios: 1:1-2, 1:3 for mixed acuity patients
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Skills Required: Vents, trachs, art lines, vasopressor and sedation management, central line blood draws; EPIC experience required; preferred skills include CVVH/CRRT, EVD
• Support within Department: CNA (1:8-10), Charge RN, Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (2 on days), Intensivists (24/7 coverage), Hospitalist (24/7), RT (24/7), Phlebotomy, Telemetry at bedside and station, unit-specific equipment (Medtronic EVDs)
• Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC, IV Pumps: Alaris, Med dispensing: Pyxis, Monitors: GE
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week, start date 09/21/2026, end date 12/19/2026
• Orientation: 1 shift of facility and unit orientation
• Shift Details: Shift hours are 1900-0700 or 0700-1900, with every other weekend rotation and holiday rotation every other week.
• Other Notes: Scrub color: any solid color with no graphics or logos; free parking; strong team-oriented culture; adherence to fatigue policy limiting work to 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts.
