Description

Job Summary
Critical Care Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - Level I Trauma Center, Days Shift, 09/28/2026 to 01/18/2027. This position involves providing high-acuity post-operative recovery care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in a 24/7, Level I trauma center. The role requires expertise in managing ventilated patients, invasive monitoring, blood transfusions, vasoactive medications, and complex post-op assessments.

Job Details

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, CCRN* (preferred), TNCC* (preferred)
  • Education & Experience: No minimum experience required, but critical care experience, with at least 2 years in a Level I trauma center, is strongly preferred
  • Location Requirements: Candidates must be at least 75 miles from the facility; current MO license or compact license required, IL license in hand required at time of submittal
  • Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting 09/28/2026, ending 01/18/2027
  • Responsibilities include recovery of adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients post-surgery, including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases, excluding open heart surgeries and liver transplants. Must be confident working with artificial airways, ICP monitoring, vasoactive drugs, and transfusions.
  • Additional Requirements: Must demonstrate experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia. Night shift candidates should be prepared to learn pre-op patient workup.
  • Open to first-time travelers and requiring proof of compliance documentation prior to start.
