Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Specialist, Open Heart, located in Reston, Virginia. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), mitral valve repairs (MVR), tricuspid valve repair (TVR), aortic valve replacements (AVR), vascular procedures, and other open heart surgeries. The position requires collaboration with surgical teams to ensure smooth operative processes and patient safety throughout the perioperative period.

Job Details

• Certifications: BLS; CNOR preferred
• Education/Experience: No minimum years of experience required; open to candidates with relevant skills and training
• Schedule: Day shift, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Responsibilities include: Assisting in open heart procedures, setting up sterile fields including Belmont, Cell Saver, and other specialized equipment; performing sterile techniques; central line setup; art line setup; and working within a team environment to support surgical and patient care activities.
• Technical Skills Needed: Sterile technique, Belmont setup and operation, Cell Saver setup, central line, art line, and vascular access.
• Additional Information: Must demonstrate proactive planning for potential issues, excellent communication skills, and teamwork for efficient procedure flow. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to unit policies and protocols.
