Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse - Location: [Generic Facility]. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a dedicated Labor and Delivery unit, supporting low-risk pregnancies and deliveries, including cesarean sections, in a high-acuity setting. The position requires adherence to established clinical protocols and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Position Description: Unit notes indicate the need for candidates experienced in Labor and Delivery nursing, following AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios. The unit includes 8 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) beds, 1 triage bed, and 8 LDRP beds for births.
- Certifications and Education Requirements: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), STABLE Certification; minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery experience required.
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant labor and delivery nursing experience.
- Additional Responsibilities: Managing deliveries, including low-risk pregnancies over 36 weeks, with the ability to titrate drips such as oxytocin and magnesium sulfate. The role includes self-scheduling, weekend and holiday work, call shifts, and potential floating to support other units.
- Equipment and Monitoring: Use of Phillips OBIX electronic fetal monitoring systems, with RNs expected to read their own strips. CPAP and ventilators are available for neonatal care as needed.
- Orientation: Unit-specific orientation required, covering clinical protocols, equipment, and workflow procedures.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must be licensed, with the ability to submit license details for processing.
