Job Summary
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in a Level I trauma center. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment, with a focus on telemetry, neuro step-down, and IMC/stepdown patients. The position requires adherence to clinical standards and collaborative team engagement.
Job Details
- Position/Specialty: IMCU / Intermediate Care Unit RN
- Shift: 3x12 Days (0645-1915)
- Schedule: Dayshift, 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois Registered Nurse license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification, a minimum of 1 year of relevant clinical experience, telemetering, neuro, and IMC/stepdown care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, experience with arrhythmia interpretation, use of rapid response teams, and post-cardiac procedures.
- Responsibilities: Monitoring and managing cardiac and neurological patients, operating equipment such as ventilators and chest tubes, administering medications including cardiac and vasoactive drips, and providing care to diverse adult patient diagnoses.
- Open to float within scope as needed.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must be pre-closed at the time of submission, with SSN and DOB provided, and available interview windows. RTO (Leave) restrictions are ideally no more than 5 days, with a requirement to work at least 2 major holidays.
- Additional Information: Experience with Cerner charting system preferred. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services. The unit averages 34 adult patients per day, with a high throughput environment requiring quick patient assessments.
