Job Summary
The healthcare provider in Kailua is seeking a Certified First Surgical Assistant to support primary surgeons during surgical procedures. The role involves assisting with exposure, hemostasis, tying or sewing, and other direct functions to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires working closely with the operating room team to deliver high-quality surgical care.
Job Details
- Position: Certified First Surgical Assistant
- Location: Kailua
- Schedule: Rotating shift, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: High School Education/GED or equivalent; Associates/Technical Degree or related experience preferred; Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor.
- Essential Functions: Preparing and positioning patients for surgery; assisting with visualization of the operating field; providing hemostasis; harvesting surgical grafts; performing incision closures; applying wound dressings; verifying availability of surgical equipment and supplies; preparing and maintaining the operating room environment; reviewing diagnostic studies; performing surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving; coordinating and participating in draping of patients; verifying operative consent and documentation; elevating questions or issues to senior staff; reviewing patient medical chart and related documentation; performing other assigned duties.
- Additional Information: Works under direct supervision or within defined parameters; performs pre-and postoperative activities; makes decisions regarding routine tasks with minimal independent judgment.
