Job Summary
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse in the healthcare setting. This role involves providing specialized care to patients recovering from anesthesia, including those with complex care needs such as total hips/knees, neuro, urology, and general surgeries. The position offers varied shifts and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on patient recovery and safety.

Job Details

• Location: The position is based at a healthcare facility with acute recovery services.
• Schedule: Rotating shifts, any day Monday through Friday, with varied start times from 0500 to 0930, 12-hour shifts, and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications include ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, and PALS (AHA); minimum of 2 years of experience in acute recovery; valid license to practice.
• Additional Qualifications: No prior employment directly with healthcare facilities associated with the organization in the past year is permitted. Prior PACU experience with acute recovery is required.
• Responsibilities: Includes patient monitoring, interpretation of EKG strips, postoperative care of patients with diverse surgical backgrounds, and collaboration with team members.
• Shift Details: Varied 12-hour shifts on weekdays, with roughly five weekend call shifts and eight weeknight call shifts per quarter. Call shifts typically run from 2200-0500 or 2200-0700 for weeknights and 0700-1900 or 1900-0700 for weekends.
• Orientation: Parking and floor-specific orientation for 1-2 days in PACU with a preceptor.
• Additional Notes: Not a trauma hospital; PACU may have ICU patients until beds open up.
• Submission Requirements: Copy of valid drivers license at the time of submittal; two references (one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years).
