- Position Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) provides hands-on, evidence-based nursing care, practicing within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. Responsibilities include assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, coordinating with other healthcare providers, and educating patients and families. The RN partners with the patient's family to deliver family-centered care and monitors the quality of nursing care provided. This role involves professional development, including licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and emphasizes lifelong learning and contribution to the nursing profession.
- Creates and maintains a healing environment through presence, managing discomforts, providing emotional support, and guiding patients and families through phases of care, recovery, or passing.
- Mobilizes patient strengths towards participation in recovery and control over the plan of care.
- Obtains and interprets assessment data, determining nursing diagnoses, and monitoring patient stability to evaluate effectiveness of interventions.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized plans of care, including safe nursing and medical interventions.
- Provides education tailored to patients learning needs, developmental and cultural considerations, and readies them for self-care and illness prevention.
- Participates in team building and contributes to continuous improvement in patient care and the work environment through unit programs, meetings, and professional activities.
- Utilizes clinical technology for communication and documentation.
- Engages in professional development by sharing knowledge, mentoring staff, and participating in shared governance.
- Communicates effectively in various formats and demonstrates leadership within the professional practice setting.
- Certifications: Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Licenses: CA-RN (Registered Nurse).
- Experience: 0 years of experience required.
- Shift: Days, 8 hours.
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 40 hours.
