Job Summary
An ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is available within a healthcare organization. The role involves providing specialized patient care for critically ill adults with diagnoses such as trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, stroke, and renal failure. The position requires clinical expertise, adherence to policies, and the ability to manage complex patient conditions.

Job Details

  • Position Description: ICU nurse responsible for patient care in a 33-bed unit with an average daily census of 16.
  • Required Qualifications: Active BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years of ICU experience; license eligibility; valid drivers license; shift schedule: 12-hour days from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ventilators (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.), troubleshooting respiratory equipment, and working in trauma or vascular cases.
  • Additional Information: Unit includes patients with conditions such as trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are required to titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides assist based on census and volume. Monitors are GE brand, with staff required to interpret strips. Floating to other units (PCU, MedSurg) may occur. Holiday work required, with every other weekend schedule. One shift of unit-specific orientation is included. RTO must be requested upfront, with no additional approvals for extra days. Cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts canceled per 13-week assignment.
