Job Summary
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) Night Shift Location unspecified. This role involves providing specialized care for adult patients with various diagnoses, including cardiac, vascular, sepsis, stroke, renal failure, and post-operative post-stent or pacer placement. The position requires adaptability, team collaboration, and strong communication skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Location Requirements: Candidate must have a drivers license and be within 50 miles of the facility, as verified through license checks.
- Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
- Education & Experience: No minimum years of experience required; however, a minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Position Description:
- Providing patient care in a 40-bed adult step-down unit with an average census of 24.
- Managing patients with diagnoses such as cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory conditions, stroke, and post-procedure care.
- Responsible for titrating and troubleshooting infusion drips, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin.
- Interpreting telemetry strips and collaborating with charge nurses who also take assignments.
- Assisting with equipment such as Vents, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow.
- Ensuring patient safety and communication in a multicultural environment primarily serving Hispanic and Somali populations.
- Flexibility to float to Medical-Surgical or ICU units as needed.
- Additional Notes:
- One day of unit-specific orientation required.
- Overhead and portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner available.
- Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, and medication communication.
- Scrub color: Navy Blue.
- RTO upfront: 7 days or less; additional RTO not approved.
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment can be canceled by the hospital.
