Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse Float, located in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for obstetric and neonatal patients, including interpreting fetal strips, following quality metrics, and floating to Medsurg and Emergency Department as needed. The position requires adaptability, critical thinking, and collaborative support within a fast-paced obstetric unit.

Job Details

  • Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support). Preferred certifications include ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and STABLE.
  • Education Requirements / Degree Requirements / Location Requirements / Experience: Valid nursing license, minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery (L&D). No minimum years of experience required in other roles.
  • Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Unit handles approximately 58 births per month, with a mix of obstetric and neonatal patients. Must be able to read and interpret fetal strips, and comfortable floating to Medsurgical and Emergency Department areas as needed. RNs titrate drips including Pitocin, insulin, magnesium, and follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios. Responsible for assisting with transfers, vital signs, and patient care documentation. Must adhere to strict floating policy, with attribute success traits such as adaptability, good critical thinking, and clear communication.
