Labor and Delivery Nurse, located in Sacramento, specializing in maternal and neonatal care, provides essential support for expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum. This role involves managing a variety of childbirth cases in a family birthing center, with a focus on safety, emergency readiness, and patient-centered care.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certifications; minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery (L&D) experience; licensed to work in the specified state; no BSN required.
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Responsibilities: Support a unit handling approximately 45 deliveries per month, including standard labor, preterm, and low-risk delivery cases. Manage active delivery with a ratio of 1:2, and couplets with a ratio of 1:4. Provide emergency care and work independently during night shifts under minimal resource availability. Responsible for patient assessment, delivery support, postpartum care, and newborn management, including short-term oxygen therapy and IV antibiotics. Work closely with a team of 2 registered nurses and 1 respiratory therapist during deliveries.
• Additional Information: Must be able to work independently, handle emergencies effectively, and adapt to scheduled rotations, including weekends and holidays. This position requires unit-specific orientation and good communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
