Job Summary

Labor and Delivery Department in Puyallup, Washington. This position provides care for antepartum, laboring, postpartum, and couplet-care patients in a Level II perinatal setting. The role includes fetal monitoring, medication management, epidural support, and care for patients with high-risk and low-risk pregnancy needs.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: At least 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience; Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification; fetal monitoring certification through the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses or a Relia S module; strong experience with cervical examinations, antepartum and labor care, amnioinfusion, epidurals, fetal monitoring, intravenous therapy, and Pitocin; postpartum experience caring for mothers and babies beyond the first 24 hours; basic breastfeeding knowledge; and experience with couplet care after stabilization.
• Schedule: Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, with an every-other-weekend rotation. One major holiday and one minor holiday are required. No on-call requirement.
• Additional Information: Provides care for patients at 32 weeks gestation and above, including patients requiring hypertension management, magnesium administration, substance-abuse medication management, antepartum monitoring, epidurals, and fetal monitoring. Patient assignments follow Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and National Association of Neonatal Nurses guidelines, including one patient per nurse during active labor and two patients per nurse during non-active labor. Responsibilities include caring for postpartum mothers and babies, supporting breastfeeding, and providing couplet care after stabilization. The role supports approximately 175200 deliveries monthly and includes care for patients transitioning from labor and delivery to the mother-and-baby unit.
