Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse in Iowa This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a 25-bed unit specializing in heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, ortho, and trauma cases. The role requires flexibility to float across all campuses, working nights with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 09/28/2026, and concluding on 12/28/2026.
Job Details
- Certifications, Education, and Experience: Iowa license (active or compact/multistate), BLS, ACLS (AHA), NIHSS (preferred), 24 months of current Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience, and at least one travel assignment completed in the past 12 months.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities: Delivering nursing care for neurology/neurosurgery, trauma, and orthopedic patients using telemetry, chest tubes, airvo, Heparin, PCA, and 3% Na. Reading telemetry strips and performing de-escalation if certified are preferred qualifications.
- Additional Information: The unit has a high patient-to-nurse ratio (1:5-6) and uses EPIC electronic medical records. Must be willing to work during summer holidays when required.
