Medical Surgical Float Nurse Location unspecified. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to surgical and medical patients within an acute care setting. The role requires adaptability to floating across units, following unit-specific protocols, and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    The Medical Surgical Float Nurse will perform patient assessments, administer treatments, and coordinate care for surgical patients (such as total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (including CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetic issues). The role involves adhering to unit-specific protocols, including equipment and charting standards, with a focus on flexibility to float to various units as needed.

  • Required Qualifications:
    BLS Certification; Minimum of 2 years' experience in medical-surgical nursing; Graduation from an accredited nursing program; Active RN license in the state of practice; Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend and holiday; Minimum of 48 hours per week starting from 10/05/2026 through 01/04/2027.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Perform patient assessments and document findings in electronic health records.
    • Administer medication and treatments following physician orders.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
    • Read and interpret monitor strips with verification by monitor techs.
    • Follow all safety protocols including the use of necessary equipment such as Cpap, BiPap, and hi-flow devices.
    • Float across various units as required, following unit-specific float checklists and orientations.
  • Certifications:
    BLS Certification.

  • Schedule:
    12-hour shifts, days, 48 hours per week.

  • Submission Requirements:
    Candidates must submit relevant licenses and certifications upon application.
