Job Summary
IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit) Registered Nurse in a central pool within a high-level trauma and teaching facility. This float pool position supports various units including cardiothoracic surgery, vascular, urology, and cardiology, with flexibility to assist in hematology, oncology, orthopedics, medical tele, general surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, ENT, and GYN. The role requires adapting to changing schedules and providing expert patient care across multiple specialties.

Job Details

  • Position Description: This is a float pool Registered Nurse role supporting units such as cardiothoracic surgery, vascular, urology, and cardiology, with additional support to hematology, oncology, orthopedics, medical tele, general surgery, neurology (including neuro Step Down Unit), neurosurgery, ENT, and GYN.
  • Certifications, Education, and Experience: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are required. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a large trauma level 1 teaching facility, with experience in cardiology including post-catheterization, transcatheter mitral valve intervention (TAVI), and structural heart patients. EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience within the past 2 years is mandatory.
  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with flexibility required to meet unit and patient needs, including every other weekend and variable scheduling.
  • Additional Information: This is a float position within the central pool, with no block schedules. Orientation sessions occur bi-weekly on Mondays. Applicants must explain employment gaps over 90 days. All work history details, including bed count, EMR, and facility type, are mandatory. Reliable transportation is strongly recommended, as public transportation is not accessible in the area.
