Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurses are needed in a medical-surgical setting with a neuro focus. The position involves providing specialized care to patients with diagnoses such as strokes, seizures, spinal injuries, trauma, and neuro specialties. The role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment requiring critical thinking and technical skills.

Job Details

• Certifications Required: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; No degree requirement; No specific experience minimum beyond 2 years of medical-surgical, ICU, or PCU experience within the last year; Location Requirements: Candidates must live within 80 miles of the facility.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Responsibilities include managing ventilators, trachs, drips (Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Insulin), reading telemetry strips, and providing general and specialized patient care in a neuro and trauma-focused environment.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to sister units covering multiple specialties such as cardiac, general, ortho, heme/onc, and more.
• Additional Information: Unit includes 28 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night depending on acuity. The unit uses various equipment including vents, trachs, Cpap, Bipap, and electronic monitors. Shifts are self-scheduled with a managed balance, and staff work every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with holiday rotations. Orientation includes one shift with a preceptor and general orientation.
