Job Summary
Medical Surgical Nurse, Fargo, North Dakota This position involves providing specialized inpatient care within a busy medical surgical unit. The nurse will assess, document, and monitor adult trauma, orthopedic trauma, medical, and surgical patients, ensuring they receive high-quality, compassionate care according to established protocols and standards.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Medical Surgical Nurse responsible for adult trauma, medical, and surgical patients in a 32-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts. The role requires assessment, documentation, and operational procedures utilizing electronic health records, including EPIC.
  • Certifications and Education Requirements: Active ND or Compact RN License; BLS certification through the American Heart Association; minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting.
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and holiday; flexible cycle with potential for consecutive day or night shifts, and self-scheduling opportunities with guaranteed days off aligned with the contract.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Floating to various Medical Surgical units across multiple locations in Fargo may be required, including units at Broadway, SMCF, and South University as needed.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a busy level one trauma center; Epic electronic documentation proficiency; previous travel experience highly preferred.
  • Submission Requirements: Active license to submit; must note if the candidate has previously worked for Sanford Health with an end date at least six months prior to submission.
