Description

Job Summary
Medical Surgical Oncology Nurse (MS ONC) Location: Region Two. This position involves providing specialized nursing care within a Medical Surgical Oncology floor, supporting patients with oncology and general medical-surgical diagnoses. The role requires delivering comprehensive patient care aligned with unit standards and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details

  • Certification and Education: BLS certification required; Chemo certification through Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) provider card preferred; must hold a valid nursing license and be willing to wait for license submission.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with oncology experience being essential. Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding.
  • Responsibilities: Management of oncology and general medical-surgical patients, including titrating titratable and set-rate drips such as Heparin and Cardizem. Management of patients with central lines and ports, sterile dressing changes, and breathing treatments. Utilizing CPAP or BiPAP equipment, with RT managing ventilation devices. Performing patient assessments and reading/interpreting telemetry strips.
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Every other weekend and rotating holiday schedule.
  • Additional Operational Notes: Must be comfortable floating within the Medical Surgical and Telemetry service line in rotation with permanent staff. Unit orientation includes Epic system training and a maximum of 2 days with a preceptor.
  • Notes on Credentials and Compliance: BSN required; willing to wait for license submission. Experience with central line and port access, sterile dressing changes, and teamwork are valued.
  • Region and Facility Flexibility: Assignments may include float throughout designated hospitals in the region, primarily at a primary hospital, with potential coverage across regional facilities.
