Job Summary
Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse is needed for the acute care setting in a facility with a focus on diverse surgical specialties, including bariatric, urology, colorectal, vascular, gynecological, plastic, and medical patients. The position involves working on the MedSurg floor, providing comprehensive patient care, and supporting unit needs within a busy hospital environment.
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, starting 09/14/2026 through 12/14/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required qualifications include BLS Certification, 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, proficient with central line, NG tube, ostomy, drain management, and professional communication skills. Experience with CBIs and foley management is preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to similar units at local hospitals.
- The unit features a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity, with care provided for multiple surgical specialties, including bariatrics, urology, colorectal, and more.
- Support is provided by unit leadership including assistant nurse managers and a manager; travelers may serve as charge nurses if experienced.
- RN responsibilities include managing patients with complex surgical needs, utilizing remote tele monitoring, and reading strips from tele monitoring systems.
- No specific scrub color required; scrubs should be clean and professional.
- Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation plus a didactic day with a nurse educator.
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, verified via perm address.
- Charting system used is EPIC.
- Licensing to submit required.
