Job Summary
The Pediatric Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a position at a healthcare facility in Norfolk, VA. The role involves providing specialized neonatal nursing care within a Level IV, 70-Bed unit, supporting premature infants and neonates with complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neonatal intensive care and be committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Job Details
- Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Location: Norfolk, VA
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Education Requirements, Degree, Location, and Years of Experience: Valid RN license, at least 1 year of NICU experience
- Responsibilities include caring for premature infants (22-36 weeks), neurological disorders, cardiac lesions, respiratory issues, renal and gastrointestinal conditions, anomalies, and conducting bedside surgeries such as PDA ligation and chest tube insertions.
- Nurse ratios are 1:2 or 1:3, with occasional floating requiring assignment to similar patient populations such as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
- Patient management involves primary nursing, computerized charting through Cerner, and collaborative care delivery.
- Length of orientation is 2-3 shifts, with start date scheduled for September 7, 2026, and end date December 6, 2026.
