Job Summary
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Specialty Nurse is based at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized care to pediatric patients in critical condition, with responsibilities encompassing ventilator management, sedation administration, PICC line care, and other advanced pediatric nursing procedures. The position oversees a small patient census daily, with a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary team.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Pediatric Critical Care Nurse specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and pediatric patients, with floating required to units within the skill set. Orientation provided.
  • Certifications: BLS, PALS (Required). NRP, CRRT (Preferred).
  • Qualifications: Valid State License (compact license required); at least 1 year of clinical experience in pediatric critical care; recent charge experience preferred; minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; familiarity with Epic charting system preferred.
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must have experience with breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPap, high frequency vents, oscillators, procedure sedation, RSI (Rapid Sequence Intubation), trach care, ventilator management, blood product administration, PICC line management, and pediatric dosage calculations.
  • Submission Requirements: Candidates must respond to inquiry regarding previous work at a Providence facility, including locations and dates worked. Two references covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years are required, prior to start.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, and travelers may float between sister facilities nearby your contracted facility. Refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and forfeiture of guaranteed hours.
  • Additional Notes: Candidates should not reach out directly to facility contacts unless for an interview. All modules must be completed pre-start and during orientation, with time recorded in Workramp transcripts.
