Job Summary
Medical Surgical Float Position Location: The healthcare provider seeks a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a floating role within the Medical Surgical (MedSurg) unit. The position involves providing direct patient care across various MedSurg units, including general medicine, cardiology, post-surgical, orthopedic, neuro, and behavioral health. The RN will support staffing needs by float between units, ensuring quality patient care and adherence to unit protocols.

  • Shift Time: Days
  • Shift Hours: 12 hours
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36
  • Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Education and Experience: RN license with minimum 1 year of experience in a medical surgical setting; Oregon or eligible for a 90-day temporary license; Epic electronic medical record experience preferred
  • Location Requirements: Candidates must be willing to work in a facility with a 50-mile radius restriction; non-Oregon licensed RNs can apply
  • Responsibilities: Provide patient care for medical, surgical, orthopedic, neuro, cardiac, and behavioral health patients; manage chest tubes, central lines, heparin drips, and other titratable/set rate infusions; respond to unit needs as assigned; collaborate with healthcare team members; document care in EPIC
  • Additional Information: The assignment includes a full orientation of 12 hours of non-billable hours during the first work week; weekend and some holiday shifts are required; standby calls may occur if not needed; scrub dress code is any color; tattoos above shoulders should be covered, and only a nose stud is permitted facial piercing; orientation schedule begins with two 12-hour shifts starting from the date of assignment
