Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in the area is responsible for delivering holistic, individualized care to patients on the obstetrics (OB) unit. The role involves working independently to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-operative gynecological patients, adhering to hospital standards and promoting teamwork with physicians and staff.
Job Details
- Position Description: Independently provides holistic, individualized care using the nursing process for patients routinely seen on the OB unit. Demonstrates clinical competency, nursing judgement, teaching skills, as well as a commitment to improving the quality of patient care. Independently performs general and unity specific clinical skills. Performs the functions of a registered nurse (RN) in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating all assigned patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse. Responsible for adhering to all Standards of Nursing Practice, implementing and evaluating the age appropriate care of all patients in the department (antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery and post-operative gynecological patients), for managing supplies and equipment, and for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of the unit and other hospital departments. RN adheres to hospital policies regarding confidentiality, sexual harassment, advance directives and ADA. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality and supports the mission, vision and values of the organization.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, effective communication skills, written and oral, computer skills, current BLS, ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Certificate, STABLE, must be vaccinated for COVID-19 per state mandate. The candidate should have a minimum of one year of acute care experience as an RN.
- Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Successfully completes general nursing and unit orientation.
