Job Summary
This Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) specialty position is based in an acute care facility. The role involves providing care to patients during the recovery phase post-surgery, with a focus on monitoring and managing patients' vital signs, airway, and anesthesia effects. The assignment requires flexibility due to variable start times and shift coverage needs.
Job Details
- Schedule: 10-hour shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 10/05/2026 and ending on 01/04/2027.
- Required Qualifications: 1 year of experience as a PACU nurse, valid state license (compact license accepted), ACLS, BLS certifications, and at least 0 years of experience in the specialty.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, managing ports, airway assessment, and post-anesthesia care procedures.
- Additional Information: The position involves working Monday through Friday, with variable start times between 0600 and 0830. Nurses in this role are expected to stay until the completion of their shift, particularly for PACU. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics, with a daily census of 10. The unit supports outpatient surgeries, orthopedic, urology, and general procedures. No weekends, holidays, or call are required, but flexibility is necessary to meet department needs. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities; refusal to float may result in contract termination.
