Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Night Shift Location: Not Specified. This role involves providing specialized care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced ICU setting. The position requires a dedicated registered nurse with experience in ventilator management, drip titrations, and critical patient care across all age groups.
Job Details
- Position Description: The ICU unit is composed of beds with ratios of 1:2-3 for most patients, and 1:1 for unstable ventilated patients. The unit treats diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, DKA, COPD exacerbation, RSV/Influenza/COVID-19, and occasionally stable pediatric patients. The role demands proficiency with ventilators, drip titrations (heparin, vasopressors, Bumex, insulin, sedation/analgesia), and advanced critical care skills.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications; Oregon License or eligible for 90-day Oregon Emergency License; minimum of 2 years of ICU experience; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; location in or willing to obtain Oregon licensure; minimum of 1 year of ICU experience; all shifts nights, 12 hours each, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Additional information: The unit has nurse aides on day shifts, a critical access hospital with in-house hospitalists and RTs available 24/7, and uses MEDITECH for charting. Orientation lasts 3-6 shifts, or longer if needed. The unit supports float assistance for nurses not fully cross-trained to other departments, and is committed to teamwork and staffing ratios that promote quality patient care.
- Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend and negotiable holiday requirements. Call or standby duties are expected within 30 minutes of being called, especially during low census periods.
