Job Summary
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Open Heart nurse is a registered nurse practicing at a specialized pediatric healthcare facility. This position involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients undergoing open heart procedures. The nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safety, evidence-based practice, and family-centered care for infants, children, and adolescents.

Job Details

  • Position Description: The Clinical Nurse II is an RN that practices as a full partner on the healthcare team and demonstrates safe practice within the organizational professional practice model.
  • Required Qualifications: Current California RN License, current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and American Heart Association Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS). - Minimum of three years of pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) RN experience. - Proficient in clinical equipment operation, computer systems, and technology relevant to pediatric critical care. - BSN degree. - Location: Must be licensed to practice in California. - Shift: Days, 8 hours. - Minimum of 40 hours per week. - Must be available to start on 09/28/2026 and work through 12/26/2026.

  • Additional Information: The nurse manages complex patient care assignments, engages in evidence-based practice, supports safety initiatives, and participates in quality improvement efforts. They assist in guiding unlicensed assistive personnel as defined by the California Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies.
