Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in an acute care facility located in an unspecified area. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, ranging from newborns to the elderly with a wide variety of complaints and severity levels. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing critically ill patients, trauma care, and a variety of medical emergencies, working within a Level 1 trauma environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with a minimum of 48 hours per week, including every other weekend and holiday requirements. Shifts may include 7a, 8a, 9a starts for day shifts, 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p, 3p for mid-shifts, and 7p for night shifts. Positions are scheduled rather than rotating day/night.
- Required Qualifications: Valid active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated, BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC or TNS certifications, at least 2 years of ER nursing experience, and a minimum of 1 prior travel assignment. Candidates must have general nursing skills, proficiency in titrating vasopressor and cardiac drips, and be able to interpret rhythm strips. Additional qualifications include recent experience in a teaching hospital, SANE RN experience preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a teaching hospital environment and familiarity with handling trauma patients.
- Float: Float rotation may be required; ED nurses may assist other units as needed, although this is rare and typically not frequent.
- Additional Information: Candidates will be responsible for drawing labs and troubleshooting ventilator and respiratory equipment, with respiratory therapists available for support. The department maintains strict safety and procedural protocols.
