Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in a level 1 trauma department located in an acute care facility. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population, ranging from newborns to the elderly, with a wide variety of medical conditions including critical illnesses, trauma, strokes, and cardiac events. Nurses will work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic team, demonstrating proficiency in critical care skills and clinical procedures.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts; Day shift: 7a, 8a, 9a; Mid shift: 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p, 3p; Night shift: 7p. Positions are not day/night rotation; scheduled by the scheduling manager, with options for time off requests and block scheduling.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated; Certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC or TNS; Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least one prior travel assignment; Experience in emergency care preferred; Good skills in critical care drips including vasopressors, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications; Demonstrated competency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and troubleshooting respiratory equipment.
• Preferred Qualifications: SANE RN experience; Prior experience working at a teaching hospital or with residents.
• Additional Information: The unit maintains an emphasis on high-acuity care, managing trauma and critically ill patients with a variety of diagnoses. The department operates with a staffing model that includes a charge nurse, house supervisor, and ED techs with ratios of 1:3-5 for nurses and 1:9 for ED techs. RNs are expected to participate in troubleshooting respiratory equipment and interpreting monitor strips. No specific scrub color is mandated, only tasteful solid-colored scrubs.
