Description
Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is located on the 4th Floor East Wing within an acute care facility. This unit primarily cares for adult and pediatric patients, with a patient population including diagnoses such as cerebrovascular accidents, transient ischemic attacks, respiratory issues, COVID-19, subdural hematomas, and weakness. RNs will work 12-hour shifts, with scheduled hours from 06:30 AM to 06:30 PM. The role involves managing patient care, responding to clinical needs promptly, and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. The position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, daily from 06:30 AM to 06:30 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN); minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a step-down care setting; ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications; proficiency with telemetry, EPIC electronic health record system, and infusion pumps (Alaris)
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with mechanical lifts and specialized equipment in a high-acuity setting; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Float: Float rotation may be required to Medical-Surgical (MS) areas based on unit needs, depending on the highest demand
- Additional Information: Must pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a 90% passing score; artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas; candidates must have a valid drivers license at submittal for distance verification purposes; availability for the start date of 10/12/2026 through 01/11/2027. Candidate should be prepared for hourly rounding and responsiveness to patient needs. A tight-knit team environment emphasizes collaborative support and effective communication.
