Job Summary
Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) for a healthcare facility located in an acute care setting. This position involves supporting cardiovascular surgery teams, particularly working outside of cardiovascular operating rooms in specific surgical cases such as CABG, valves, TAVR, VATS/thoracotomy, robotic lungs, and aneurysm procedures. The role includes participating in scheduled teams with self-scheduling responsibilities and providing call coverage as outlined. The shift primarily consists of 10-hour days with additional call commitments, including weekend and holiday rotations.

Job Details

• Schedule: 8-hour shifts, primarily from 07:00 to 17:30, with total minimum hours per week of 32.0.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (AHA), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA; minimum of 2 years of experience; must be able to scrub outside of cardiovascular operating rooms, specifically for C-section procedures; valid license to submit; location requirements for candidates living within 80 miles of the facility.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac and vascular surgical cases, familiarity with Cerner charting system.
• Float: Float rotation may be required within the main operating room or outpatient surgery center, not to other sites.
• Additional Information: Candidates must clock in and out at the facility. The team follows a self-scheduling process with 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shifts, and call coverage involves one long call per week on weekdays, plus an approximately every five-week weekend (Friday after shift through Monday morning). Weekend call is in addition to weekday call requirements. The team is led by a charge nurse/house supervisor, with a unit-specific orientation lasting up to one week. The employer may cancel the assignment with a 12-hour notice every 13 weeks.
