Description
Job Summary:
The labor and delivery (L&D) postpartum (PP) specialty nurse position is based in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care on the postpartum floor, supporting maternal and newborn teaching, and performing clinical procedures related to labor, delivery, and postpartum care. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment dedicated to maternal and neonatal health.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per day, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- License, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (ANRP) Certification
- Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring
- Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin)
- Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing and capillary blood glucose testing
- Demonstrated knowledge of IStat device usage
- Demonstrated ability to perform adult cardiac monitoring
- Knowledge of newborn monitors, including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring
- Ability to perform heel sticks/venipuncture on newborns
- Knowledge of newborn medications, IV administration, and maintenance
- Knowledge of Bili-blankets/lights and radiant warmers
- Ability to support gynecological teaching, post-operative bladder training, and maternal-newborn education
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
- Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience
- Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience
- Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience
Additional Information:
Candidates should be prepared to provide safe and compassionate patient care, adhere to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrate proficiency in neonatal and maternal monitoring techniques. The assignment runs from 09/21/2026 to 03/24/2027.
