Description
Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse position available at a healthcare facility within a pediatric department. This role involves providing specialized care for children with complex medical needs, including ventilator management, trach care, and various congenital or acquired conditions. The position offers an opportunity to work in a home-like environment with a dedicated pediatric team.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 07:00 PM to 07:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. No shift rotation; blockscheduling is available.
- Required Qualifications: Valid active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Must have a minimum of 1 year Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with pediatric patients requiring ventilator support, trach management, and care for complex medical conditions.
- Additional Information: The unit has a 12-bed capacity with all private rooms, nurse-to-patient ratios typically between 1 to 3-4. The team utilizes nurse aides/patient care technicians during shifts, and there is in-house pediatrician coverage 24/7 along with a medical director on call. RN staff handle ventilator troubleshooting and management of trach/vent patients, with equipment including Vents, Cpap, Bipap, and High Flow devices. No pharmacy on-site; nurses are responsible for medication preparation. The unit operates with a 2-shift orientation period and does not typically require floating, though there may be opportunities to float to pediatric intensive care units at a partner facility.
