Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) at a surgical specialty unit in an overland park facility. This position involves providing care in a high-paced environment with a focus on post-operative patients, including procedures such as ostomy management, NGT placement, Foley catheter maintenance, central line care, wound management, IV starts, blood administration, and nutritional supplementation. The assignment begins on 12/14/2026 and extends through 03/15/2027, with a guaranteed 48 hours per week and scheduled for days shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing, with an understanding of post-operative patient care.
• Preferred Qualifications: High-paced environment experience, familiarity with post-op procedures listed above.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to other medical, surgical, or telemetry units including orthopedics and neuro centers.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit generally has 20 private beds with patient ratios of 4:1 total patient care, 5:1 with a patient care technician.
  • Staffing typically includes 1 technician for 4-5 nurses.
  • Equipment used: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD epidural, Alaris PCA, Pyxis medication dispensing machine, telemetry, EKG, bladder scanner, wound vacs, Capnostream monitors, SCD pumps.
  • Documentation system: Medi tech.
  • Scheduling: Every third weekend, two Mondays, and two Fridays per four-week cycle.
  • Certifications: Center of Excellence in Colorectal and Robotics, MBSAQIP certified in Bariatric Surgery.
